OPEX Week 2023 Recap: Back to the Future of Project Management

OPEX Week 2023 Recap: Back to the Future of Project Management

What happens when you get over 400 operational leaders and project managers together at the Hyatt Regency in Miami? They geek out over spreadsheets and agile technologies!

Just kidding. Though, yeah, there was inevitably some of that, too.

But the 24th annual OPEX Week: Business Transformation World Summit also had other exciting takeaways — and giveaways — in store. And Proggio was proud to be a part of it!

Here’s a quick recap of our favorite highlights from the big event.

Back to the future of project management

The opening night reception kicked off with a “Back to the Future” theme, and our team had a blast dressing up in ‘80s-inspired fashion and dancing the night away:

Three men in colorful suits posing with props at a promotional booth.

You know the famous quote: “Where we’re going, we don’t need roads!” Well, for us it’s: “Where we’re going, we don’t need Gantt charts!”

Making OPEX sexy with sessions

Is it really a summit without whiteboards and flow charts? Of course not. Then it would just be a T-shirt and pen sale. The OPEX team made those whiteboards as fun and engaging as possible.

Look! Here’s one about using descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to drive business transformation:

Here’s one about the importance of staying aligned with OKRs:

And here’s one about making OPEX sexy (totally possible!):

In case you didn’t read all of that, these were some of the biggest takeaways from the sessions:

  • Leaders at the forefront of digital transformation are thinking about how to build out their PMOs and find the right PPM solutions.
  • Operational excellence can help you streamline processes and increase customer satisfaction by 130%.
  • Tracking OKRs can help organizations measure and meet long-term, strategic goals.
  • PPM solutions must be able to break down silos between teams and sync data and dashboards across the organization.

Igniting digital transformation, one candle at a time

Everyone gives away T-shirts. But we took our swag one step further with the perfect prop to help you light a fire under your project management operation. Figuratively, of course.

Since project managers are basically miracle-makers and saints, we gave them the prayer candles they deserve to take their strategies to the next level:

Basket of blue boxes and candles with motivational text on a speckled surface.

And each one was wrapped with an inspirational mantra like “Let there be movable milestones,” “Believeth in dynamic views,” and “Exorcise Excel.” (Seriously, stop using Excel spreadsheets to organize your portfolio.)

Demo drives, raffles, and mystery gifts

The Proggio team was thrilled to be part of the Demo Drive, wherein attendees could visit 10 different exhibitor booths for a free demo of their products. As a result, we were able to introduce many people to Proggio’s adaptive project portfolio management platform, which provides complete clarity across your entire project portfolio.

We also participated in the OPEX Week raffle, where we gave away a 40” screen and a mystery gift box filled with self-care items to keep those hard-working managers pampered.

All in all, OPEX Week provided a fantastic opportunity to network, learn, share the Proggio platform, and let loose a bit with other leaders in the industry. We look forward to seeing what they have in store next year as we continue to innovate towards the future of project management.
